Plympton Select Board Approves Ice Rink, Clears Fire Station Public Forums

PLYMPTON — February 2, 2026 — Plympton Select Board approves ice rink at Holt Field and advances fire station outreach plan. The board voted unanimously Monday to allow the Recreation Commission to install a 60-by-100-foot inflatable skating rink at Holt Field, confirming the town's insurance carrier covers inflatable rinks and that the commission will not need to re-file the request each year. Town Properties Committee Chairman Pierre Boyer presented a four-phase community engagement plan for the fire station question — following last year's failed town meeting vote — with the first public sessions scheduled for February 7 at 10 a.m. and February 9 at 6 p.m.; Boyer also disclosed that five state-issued citations against the existing fire station remain active, with two still under review and the committee required to report progress to the state every two weeks. The board separately approved the Best Buddies Challenge bike race on town roadways May 30 pending police, fire, and highway sign-offs, and received a staff update on ice-dam water damage at town hall and the library, with no building closures anticipated.
