Plympton Select Board Appoints ZBA Alternate Ahead of 40B Proposal

PLYMPTON — October 21, 2024 — Plympton Select Board appoints ZBA alternate and races to protect $230,000 in ARPA funds ahead of an October 24 reporting deadline. Town Administrator Liz Dennehy told the board that of the town's original $536,000 county ARPA allocation, approximately $230,000 remains and is targeted for a well and water infrastructure project behind the highway barn — a prerequisite for the planned new fire station — but that required documentation from the town properties committee had not yet arrived. The board unanimously appointed Alan Wheelock as a Zoning Board of Appeals alternate through June 30, 2027, in advance of a pending 40B comprehensive permit proposal off Spring Street, and voted to submit preliminary comments on that proposal to Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency. A Green Communities compliance presentation from Old Colony Planning Council confirmed Plympton has reduced municipal building energy use by 35 percent since its 2011 baseline, and that a library heat pump grant — with a notice to proceed issued October 15 — positions the town to apply for up to $225,000 in new state grant funds once the project closes.
