Plympton Select Board Advances Housing Plan, Code of Conduct at August Meeting

PLYMPTON — August 5, 2024 — Plympton Select Board moves housing plan and code of conduct forward at daytime August meeting. The board heard from Old Colony Planning Council planners Elisa Papantonakis and Jason, who presented an update to the town's 2017 Housing Production Plan, noting Plympton's subsidized housing inventory stands at 5.18 percent — roughly 53 units short of the 10 percent threshold that would shield the town from unwanted Chapter 40B development, with a median home price of $465,100 and more than 45 percent of renters cost-burdened. The board unanimously approved the concept of a draft code of conduct for town boards and committees, a project led by Selectman Dana Smith, with plans to circulate it for feedback before a final adoption vote. A Eversource pole installation at Main Street and Montello Street was approved unanimously following a public hearing, and Deborah Batson was appointed to the Council on Aging Board through June 30, 2027. Town administrator Liz Dennehy announced Eversource will donate $2,000 to the Plympton Firefighters Association for the town's National Night Out event, a grant opportunity she secured through the company's community liaison.
