Plympton Board of Health Sets January Hearing on Updated Septic Regulations

PLYMPTON — December 9, 2025 — Plympton Board of Health approves two septic plans and schedules a January 27 public hearing on updated Title V regulations. The three-member board voted unanimously to approve a no-variance repair plan for 73 West Street and a system upgrade at 9 Upland Road that included a variance allowing the soil absorption system 10 feet from a property line rather than the required 20. The board concluded work on its Supplemental Title V regulations and fee schedule — a multi-meeting effort — after agreeing to drop a redundant paragraph on shared septic systems, with a formal hearing set for its January 27 meeting. The board also raised concerns about the accuracy of pump records submitted by Wind River, the town's contracted septic pumper: a record for 26 Upland Road flagged "a safety concern on site that needs immediate follow-up," corporate staff described photographs showing a damaged cover, but the local office later claimed the technician had made a mistake. The board directed a member to inspect the property and said it would file a complaint with the state licensing board if confirmed problems at two sites were found to have been mischaracterized as errors. The Massachusetts DEP also issued a conditional approval for new source wells at the town's Palmer Road campus, closing out roughly three years of permitting work.
