Plympton Board of Selectmen Votes 2-1 to Hire Fennessey as Permanent Town Administrator

PLYMPTON -- July 14, 2026, Plympton Board of Selectmen votes 2-1 to offer permanent town administrator job to interim TA Robert Fennessey. Chair Nate Sides cast the lone dissenting vote, preferring finalist Christine DeMuranville for her financial background; members Dan Cadigan and John Smith cited Fennessey's experience with South Shore municipalities and months of on-the-job performance as interim. The appointment is contingent on successful contract negotiations. In the same meeting, the board voted unanimously to approve $317,283.55 in fiscal year 2026 end-of-year budget transfers, including a roughly $128,000 reserve fund draw to cover a police salary overrun that Sides said had "accumulated pretty quickly" without adequate advance notice to the board.
