Plympton Select Board Refers Fire Station, Water Supply, and Basement Projects to Town Properties Committee

PLYMPTON — October 22, 2025 — Plympton Select Board refers fire station citation, water supply project, and basement repairs to reconstituted Town Properties Committee. Meeting Wednesday with two members present, the board voted unanimously to assign all three projects to the Town Properties Committee and require monthly email updates to the Select Board through the Town Administrator. The action came after Chair Liz Dennehy detailed a multi-violation citation issued by the Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards following a May 27 inspection of the current fire station — violations including water seeping through floor vents, ceiling leaks, a flooded heating duct system, and an electrical panel adjacent to water piping, with a corrective action deadline of November 17. The board also holds $107,010.51 in ARPA funds for water supply site work and $11,484.88 for pavement overlay, all of which must be expended by December 31, 2026. Separately, the board unanimously approved a response to an open meeting law complaint filed by Patrick Higgins on October 6 and appointed Mike Slauson as Plympton's Area 58 representative through June 30, 2026. Dennehy also reported a $99,351 Green Communities grant application submitted for townhouse weatherization work.
