Plympton Select Board Receives $1M in Federal Relief Funds, Approves Routine Appointments

PLYMPTON — March 10, 2025 — Plympton Select Board accepts more than $1 million in federal pandemic relief and eyes a fire station debt vote. Plymouth County Commissioners presented the board with a combined $1,047,127.63 in CARES Act and ARPA funds during the March 10 meeting — $512,419.93 from the CARES program and $534,707.70 from ARPA — at an administrative overhead the county said was less than one and a half percent. Town Administrator Liz Dennehy told the board she is cautiously optimistic no Proposition 2.5 override will be needed for the upcoming town meeting but said a debt-exclusion ballot question for a new fire station is expected to reach the board for a vote at its March 25 session, following a Finance Committee meeting on March 17. The board also heard a nine-year retrospective from Bylaw Review Committee Chair Alan Wheatlock, who reported more than 30 warrant articles submitted and approved, a newly digitized searchable bylaw system, and two upcoming town meeting articles to align Plympton's accessory dwelling unit bylaw with new state law. The board unanimously approved a one-year contract renewal with Sereon Company Inc. as the town's certified drinking water operator and appointed Dana Smith as its delegate to the Old Colony Planning Council.
