Plympton Select Board Eyes March 10 Vote on Fire Station Debt Exclusion Question

PLYMPTON — February 24, 2025 — Plympton Select Board sets March 10 deadline to decide on fire station debt-exclusion ballot question. Town Administrator Liz Dennehy told the board Monday that a vote on whether to place a Proposition 2½ debt-exclusion question before voters must come no later than March 10 to allow time for ballot printing; the Town Properties Committee, which has worked on the fire station project for over a year, will be invited to present beforehand. On the fiscal year 2026 budget, Dennehy said the town will "definitely have to tap" its general stabilization fund to avoid an operating override, with refined school figures from Silver Lake Regional expected by week's end — any stabilization draw requires a two-thirds town meeting vote. The board voted two to one to authorize Dennehy to confirm whether a $5,380 quote to fully finish a mold-remediated room at the Old Townhouse remains valid and, if so, to proceed, over the Town Properties Committee's recommendation to leave the room unfinished. The board also agreed to consult town counsel and hold a workshop before taking any action on a social media policy, prompted by the anticipated closure of the Plimpton Halifax Express.
