Plympton Select Board elects Dana Smith chair in unanimous post-election reorganization

PLYMPTON — May 19, 2025 — Plympton's Select Board unanimously elected Dana Smith as chair, Nathaniel Sides as vice chair, and Mark Russo as clerk at its post-election reorganization meeting Monday. The session, completed in under 30 minutes, was shadowed by Russo's disclosure that his home is on the market and that Town Counsel has advised he must resign from the board upon closing; Russo said he would personally cover the cost of any resulting special election. Town Administrator Liz Dennehy reported that ARPA-funded HVAC work at Silver Lake Regional schools remains only partially invoiced, and that the town's wells project — managed by the Town Properties Committee and targeted for September 30 completion — has not yet produced recent billing, prompting the board to summon the committee for a June 9 update. Two vacancies on the Town Properties Committee and one on the Finance Committee — opened by Sides's move to the Select Board — will be advertised via a broad social media outreach campaign covering all current town committee openings.
