Plympton Zoning Board Accepts SLT Construction's Withdrawal of Earth Removal Appeal

PLYMPTON — March 11, 2026 — Plympton Zoning Board accepts SLT Construction's withdrawal of its cease-and-desist appeal, shifting the earth removal dispute into the 40B comprehensive permit process. The board voted unanimously at its March 11 session to accept a written request from attorney Robert Galvin, counsel to SLT Construction Corporation and Ricketts Pond Estates, LLC, to withdraw without prejudice the company's appeal of a Zoning Enforcement Officer order that had halted alleged unpermitted earth removal at Ricketts Pond Drive. Acting chair John Jaffarian, presiding in the absence of regular chair Suzanne Jaffarian, read Galvin's letter into the record and confirmed that the cease-and-desist order remains in force despite the withdrawal. SLT has separately requested an exemption from the town's earth removal permit requirement as part of its pending Chapter 40B comprehensive permit application — a waiver the same board will now decide. One resident objected before the vote, saying the board was setting "a poor precedent for other earth diggers."
