Plympton Select Board Promotes Two Sergeants, Accepts $89,000 in ARPA Funds

PLYMPTON — May 6, 2024 — Plympton Select Board appoints two police sergeants and accepts $89,403 in Plymouth County ARPA funds. The board voted unanimously Monday to promote Nathan Valente and Kevin Brower to sergeant — Valente in an administrative capacity and Brower focused on patrol — and named Lauren Grady as executive information coordinator, all under three-year contracts. Plymouth County Treasurer Thomas O'Brien and Commission Chair Valenzuela presented a ceremonial check for $89,403.40, covering completed HVAC work at Silver Lake Regional School and municipal well monitoring and tree-clearing projects, and noted that additional Plympton applications remain in process. O'Brien credited state Senator Moran and Representative Lanatra for ensuring the town received its share, and said Plymouth County administered the funds at less than 1 percent overhead — described as the lowest such rate in the nation. Lieutenant Hoffman separately reported 303 motor vehicle stops in April, 108 of them for hands-free violations, with Chief Ball noting roughly 80 percent of all traffic enforcement contacts involve out-of-town drivers.
