Plympton School Committee Ratifies Three-Year Teacher Contract, Approves $133,000 Literacy Grant

PLYMPTON — September 8, 2025 — Plympton School Committee ratifies three-year teacher contract and accepts $133,000 state literacy grant at first fall meeting. The committee unanimously approved a new agreement with the Plympton Teachers Association providing 3 percent annual cost-of-living increases for each of the three contract years, along with language changes requested by the union. Chair Jason Frazier also announced the committee accepted a $133,000 PRISM 2 literacy grant — part of Governor Healey's Literacy Launch initiative — that will fund teacher stipends, DESE-vetted coaching from The New Teacher Project, and half the cost of a new K-6 English language arts curriculum at Dennett Elementary School, representing more than 3.5 percent of the school's roughly $4 million annual budget. The committee voted to begin using a consent agenda in October and to pursue formal Select Board clarification that the Dennett athletic fields are under town rather than school department control, which would remove advertising-policy restrictions on sponsor banners sought by the Plympton Athletic Youth Sports organization. A seat vacancy created by a member's appointment to the Finance Committee will be filled through candidate interviews at the October 27 meeting at 5 p.m., with Frazier as the point of contact.
