Plympton School Committee Sets March 9 Date to Vote FY27 Budget

PLYMPTON -- February 9, 2026, Plympton School Committee delays FY27 budget vote to March 9 as vocational costs and state aid nearly cancel out. Two Plympton students applying to Norfolk Agricultural High School added an unanticipated $84,000, $70,000 in tuition and $14,000 in transportation, to a budget that had been tracking at a 2.5 percent increase over FY26. Superintendent Dr. Jill Proli reported that Governor Healey's House 2 budget proposal delivered a net $93,000 state aid increase for Dennett Elementary, effectively absorbing the new vocational cost. The committee unanimously approved raising the administrative assistant to the principal's hourly rate to $28.50 following a closed Executive Session. A capital improvement subcommittee report detailed a Dennett Elementary roof replacement now estimated at roughly $3 million by 2028-2029, six aging HVAC units at approximately $110,000 each, and a push for a building-conditions assessment in the $30,000-to-$35,000 range, with two warrant article placeholders to be submitted to Town Administrator Liz ahead of Town Meeting.
