Plympton committee hears Dennett MCAS results

School Committee · Meeting of October 19, 2026

Plympton's School Committee heard Dennett Elementary's 2026 MCAS results showing a 21 point math gain in grade 6. Presenters said the state upgraded the school's classification to "substantial progress towards targets," with no assistance or intervention required. Combined English language arts held at 58 percent meeting or exceeding expectations, while math rose from 51 to 57 percent and grade 6 English language arts climbed 14 points to 48 percent.

Principal Peter Veneto, Jr. outlined new Wonders and HMH curriculum supports funded partly by a state PRISM grant. Members also heard that bus, insurance and retirement costs could bring double-digit budget increases, and that the committee still has a vacancy to fill before the 2027 election.
