Plympton Board of Health Halts Milkshake Sales at Restaurant With Repeat Testing Failures

PLYMPTON — July 29, 2025 — Plympton Board of Health orders milkshake sales suspended at a local restaurant after six coliform test failures since April. The board directed Kate McSorley, owner of the establishment referred to as Clifton's, to halt sales from the problem machine, schedule a retest for August 4, contact the manufacturer with the full failure history, and submit a written remediation plan for the board's August meeting. Facilities staff described a meticulous cleaning protocol identical to the one used at a Plymouth location where the same model machine has passed consistently — leading the board to suspect an internal component. "It almost seems like something's weeping somewhere and you just can't get to it to clean," one member said. The board also approved septic repair permit application 1368 for 173 Main Street on a unanimous vote, ratified votes from three prior meetings on a procedural swearing-in matter, and received updates on a boil water order issued and then lifted at First Congregational Church of Plympton after DEP discovered a daycare on the premises had raised the facility's public water supply classification.
