Plympton Zoning Board Unanimously Approves Special Permit for Route 58 Event Venue

PLYMPTON — November 20, 2024 — Plympton's Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved a special permit for a new event venue at 387 Main Street, built around a 230-year-old barn transported from Butler, Ohio. The board voted November 20 to grant applicant Jeff Perrette permission to dismantle, transport, and re-erect the 1793 all-white-oak timber-frame structure on the rear portion of his Route 58 property for use as a wedding and private event venue accommodating up to 200 guests. The permit carries six conditions: outdoor operations limited to 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and indoor operations until 1 a.m.; mandatory police detail for events of 100 or more guests; full bylaw compliance; a requirement to obtain all other necessary permits including Board of Health approval for a new 200-person septic system; a cap of 100 events per calendar year; and exclusion of future proposed structures — a second barn and grain bins — from the current approval. Board Chair Suzanne Jaffarian and alternates Dave Alberti and Alan Wheelock joined full members Ethan Stiles and Lucas Kowalski in the unanimous vote; both immediate abutters present at the hearing spoke in favor of the project.
