Plympton ZBA Sets April 14 Hearing to Renew All Kennel Special Permits

PLYMPTON — March 26, 2026 — Plympton's Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a formal hearing April 14 to renew all seven active kennel special permits, the first such review in at least 17 years. Acting Chair Ethan Stiles convened the March 26 session after Town Clerk Tara brought forward procedural questions prompted by Ollie's Law, a Massachusetts statute effective December 2024 that requires municipalities to report kennel licenses annually to the state Department of Agricultural Resources. Plympton currently holds two grandfathered commercial kennels, one hobby kennel, and four personal kennels on its rolls. The board agreed unanimously to continue the matter to April 14 at 7:00 p.m. and approved the town clerk's proposal to add explicit five-year renewal-reminder language to the bottom of all future kennel special permit decisions.
