Meeting March 11, Chair Pierre Boyer reported that the Board of Selectmen accepted a $35,500 bid from DDC Construction for a front door replacement, the lowest of five bids that ranged up to $63,427. The committee also heard from a representative of the fire chief that the station's electrical panel, floor drains, and floor vents all face ongoing problems, with water actively entering through floor vents and the roof continuing to leak after recent snowfall; two state code citations remain unresolved with no budget currently available to address them. Boyer said he plans to contact the town administrator to explore low-cost measures that might satisfy the state, and noted the Board of Selectmen authorized the committee to pursue grants and federal earmarks for a future fire station. An extended committee discussion about fire department service models and station sizing was cut short by Boyer himself over Open Meeting Law concerns, with the topic to be formally added to a future agenda.
